Summary:

"This is an album that makes us feel good about ourselves and get ready for whatever may come... Play from the start or dip into it, you won't miss the fun."

After 35 years in the business, 220 volt are  back in 2014 with their recently released sixth studio album ‘Walking In Starlight’ . Although the lineup has changed over the years, this formation of the band – which has been together since 2012 – is showing the fans that they still can do it.

220 Volt - Walking In Starlight artworkWith the age and calibre of the band it is easy to hear that they are cut from the same cloth as Whitesnake and early Europe.  Just press play and the first track,  ‘Walking In Starlight’ itself, slides through your speakers with keyboards, guitar and Anders Engberg’s seductive vocals serenading  you to go walking.   This is a real good old fashioned rock song that makes you smile even when you’re feeling bad.  It’s about being able to find you within yourself.

‘System Overload’  tells us that we have to stay strong when we wanna give up – but in an upbeat party style:  you’re getting ready to explode but, holding back, you know you won’t give up.  This is one for the stressed out.

This is an album that makes us feel good about ourselves and get ready for whatever may come.  ‘Broken Promises’, for example, is about a person who has had enough shit and won’t ‘won’t take no more’, and ‘Alive’  tells of inner strength while facing the shit that life throws at us all.  I could keep going and do a track by track synposis but you might get bored reading the same thing over again.

The upbeat, rock your socks off groove runs the entire playlist on this album.  Play from the start or dip into it, you won’t miss the fun.

This album takes it’s influence lyrically from the darker side of life’s experiences and turns them into something to understand and move on from. We’ve all heard that saying the music soothes the soul… this album really does.  It also possesses the quality for one to really put their party head on:  I can see so many rock chicks listening to this with a glass or two in hand while dancing ’round the bedroom getting ready for a night out… as all us rockchicks do, lol!
