Six new Wacken Metal-Battle winners are from Zygnema from India, Shredhead from Israel, Cold Snap from Ex-Yugoslavia, Rain Shatter from Mexico Opifex from Latvia and Lord Shades from France
Zygnema -The groove thrashers from Mumbai won this year´s Indian national Metal-Battle finals. In 2010 the band released their first album “Born of Unity”
Besides the fact that they are one of the leading metal bands in their home country they gained a lot of fame through several media appearances like features on VH-1 or Rollings Stone Magazine.
Shredhead – After their founding as Megadeth/Slayer coverband back in 2009 the band started writing own material which culminated in the release of their debut “Human Nature” in 2011.
The album catapulted the band to the top of the local metal scene and after their Victory at the Israel finals they will now swing the thrash-metal hammer at the international finals in Wacken.
Cold Snap -was founded in 2003 and won the national finals of Metal-Battle Ex-Yugoslavia (were more than 300 bands from 6 countries participated). In their career the band gained a lot of fame and did more than 200 shows all over Europe together with bands like Soulfly, Disturbed or Pro-Pain. Until today the band released 3 albums and several music videos which were critically acclaimed in the local metal scene.
Rain Shatter – The band comes from Guadalajara in the west of Mexico and was founded in 2009.
The band already played with famous bands like Megadeth, All Shall Parish or Vital Remains and are currently recording their next album.
Opifex – This dark Avantgard/Progressive Metal band comes from Latvia. They are optically and musically influenced by the steam punk scene.
This multi talented band is currently recording their first album and they do all what is necessary for it by themselves – be it recording, mixing, mastering and the graphics design of the album artworks.
Lord Shades -The winners of the French Metal-Battle edition combines several styles in their sound. A self created fantasy world serves as background for the story behind their lyrics and is been advanced from album to album.

Metal-Battle – UK winner Saturnian have been disqualified
Due to a violation of the Metal-Battle rules we have to announce that Saturnian (MB winner UK) have been disqualified from the contest.
The band signed a worldwide record deal with the Scandinavian label “Indie Recordings”. To be unsigned is one of the main requirements of the contest.
