ROAD DOG, the critically-acclaimed second album from ATTICA RAGE, is set for a worldwide digital release through new international label Off Yer Rocka Recordings on 1st May 2012 and will be available to download on all major online retail stores. The release includes all 14 original studio album tracks plus two exclusive, bonus live tracks – “Through the Inner Eye” and a raucous live rendition of Motorhead classic “Overkill” – both recorded live at the band’s hometown show at the Classic Grand, Glasgow during their 2011 ‘Road Dog’ UK tour. A promotional video for the song ‘Ashamed’ will accompany the worldwide album launch.
Produced & mixed in Glasgow, Scotland by roddymacaudio and mastered in New York, USA by Mike Tucci at Masterdisk (Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne, Pearl Jam), ROAD DOG is a diverse collection of blues-infused biker rock, thunderous metal riffs, classic rock grooves and powerful, melodic ballads. Featuring Jonny Parr on lead vocals and guitar; Richie Rage on drums; Stevie Bell on guitar and Big C on bass (recently replaced in the line-up by Colin Wilson), the album also features guest appearances by alt. blues artist Dave Arcari (slide guitar on ‘Road Dog Forever’) and singer/songwriter Christie Connor-Vernal (cello on ‘Altea’).
ROAD DOG was originally released in the UK in April 2011 through Rocksector Records, launched with a fired-up, full-throttle live showcase on the main stage at Hammerfest III in Prestatyn, Wales, complete with firebreathers, stage performers and pyros! Since its UK release, ROAD DOG has received critical acclaim from international rock press and media along with a growing fan-base of rock and metal fans throughout the world. Described by MetalShip as ‘one of the best metal releases in the last 10 years” and by Dom Lawson for Metal Hammer (UK) as “the distilled greatest hits of rock and metal”, many of the album tracks have already become classics in their own right. Opening track ’36 Insane’ appeared on Metal Hammer’s ‘Razor’ covermount CD series; ‘Through the Inner Eye’ was selected by Classic Rock magazine as ‘Track of the Day’ and the song is also the intro theme for international heavyweight wrestler Johnny Moss. ROAD DOG was a Featured Album on Total Rock and receives FM and digital radio airplay at home and overseas. The album was also a shortlisted nominee in the Scottish New Music Awards 2011 for ‘Best Metal Recording of the Year’ and ‘Best Album Artwork’.
ATTICA RAGE are one of the most promising heavy rock bands to emerge from the UK in recent years. Formed in Glasgow, Scotland, they continue to build a growing loyal fanbase – collectively known as ‘Clan Attica’ – via the traditional rock n’ roll route out on the road, earning a solid reputation for their bone-rattling, energetic, loud and powerful performances at headline shows, tours and festivals across UK and Europe. Having supported and shared festival bills with heavyweight names including Judas Priest, Slash, Black Label Society, Down, Sepultura, W.A.S.P and Saxon amongst others, the Attica Rage live experience has been proven to fill outdoor arenas as much as it does the clubs & theatres. UK and European festival highlights have included High Voltage, London; Download, Donington; main stage appearances at Hard Rock Hell and Hammerfest, Wales; SOS Fest, Manchester and overseas at Metalcamp, Slovenia and HRH Road Trip, Ibiza, Spain.
2012 sees Attica Rage embark on a run of UK headline dates in May and June and a return visit to Ibiza for the HRH Road Trip before a very special appearance at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods 2012 in London on 11th June, performing at the pre-show boat party which will be cruising down the Thames River and arriving at the Indigo2 at the O2 Arena in time for the awards show. Other bands confirmed so far include headliners Anthrax and Biohazard with Shadows Fall and Fozzy joining Attica Rage onboard HMS Hammer. The band is also currently writing a new album with a release planned for the end of the year.
