Black Iris/Rampage Venue Preston 10th Feb 2012

Black Iris are a melodic-metal four piece band from Guildford, UK. Well known for their intense live performance they perform destructively-beautiful music laced with rhythmic breakdowns. Black Iris are exponentially increasing both their song writing skills and fan base. Inspired by the likes of Killswitch Engage and 36 CrazyFists, Black Iris have supported Julien-K, The Blackout, The Defiled, Starseed and Shadows Chasing Ghosts to name a few. They have played HRH Road Trip Ibiza 2011 and headlined The Surrey Ad Stage at Guilfest 2011 clashing with Skindred and are ready to launch their “full-frontal rock attack” on any unsuspecting crowd.
They are now halfway through a week long tour of the uk, called “The Justice Tour”, Planetmosh caught the band live as they played the Rampage venue in Preston.
Coming on stage a little after 10pm made sure there was a sizeable crowd, waiting to hear some full on brutal melodic metal, with one or two surprises in store Black Iris took to the stage and proceeded to tear the place up.
Opening up with their latest single “Hearts Still Beats” they soon had the crowd on their side, then straight into “Degrees Of Decision” followed by “Who I Am”, and then it was time to take a breather, a light hearted introduction by the band, and then it was back to the music.
“The Tangled Web We Weave” and “Better Luck Tomorrow” also taken from their debut EP, certainly got the crowd going, before the surprise of the night, a cover of the Survivor classic, “The Eye Of The Tiger”, this has been given Black Iris makeover, the full on melodic metal treatment, the crowd go mental and nearly everybody in the room sings the chorus.
The only track not played so far tonight from the debut EP “It’s Only Just Begun” keeps the crowd moshing, until they close the show with the mighty “Wolves At Your Door”.
There are still a few more dates left on this tour, so catch them while you can, a great live band.
