Blynd, pre-Bloodstock festival interview

Blynd are set to bombard the New Blood Stage on Sunday 12th at this year’s Bloodstock.

We catch up with the guys to find out more about them, what they are about, the festival and what you lucky Bloodstock go-er’s can expect from them!

Can you give the readers a quick introduction to the band?

We are Blynd (Andreas-Vocals/Bass, Constantinos-Guitars, George-Guitars, Alex-Drums). We play a fussion of NWOAM/mellodic death metal, however, we do not restrict ourselves  with those labels; they are merely an outline of what kind of music one should expect to listen when Blynd hit the stage.

The band started out as a trio back in 2004. After a  period of experimentation (and 2 Demos), we released our first full length album “The Enemy” in 2010. Having added a second guitarist, we decided it was time to step it up  some notches and the result was our upcoming album “Punishment Unfolds”; an album we consider to be a must listen for all enthusiasts of our genre but not only! We pour our  souls into our music and the only expectation we have from this investment is connection; connecting with your soul, in a fast paced, Blynding manner!

Have you ever been to Bloodstock before? If so when and what did you enjoy most about it?

This is actually our first time we visit Bloodstock and we are just stoked that we happen to be a part of it!

Why did you want to become part of the New Blood Stage line up?

A few reasons: 1) the sheer quality of the New Blood Stage; some awesome bands this year. 2) The opportunity to be heard abroad; especially on such an important stage 3)  Wacken!!!! 4) Black Star!!!!

What was your initial reaction when you found out you were playing on the New Blood Stage?

We were on the “Metal for the Masses” competition. We played our 3 songs and then the 3 of us had to go to work, so, only George stayed to hear the results. He had us on  loud speak though as the results were announced. Our reaction? Frenzy, lots of expletives with even one of us choking up a little bit; won’t say who though…It is truly an  honor for us!

What is your opinion of the Bloodstock lineup?

MACHINE HEEEEEEEEAD!!!!!! Need we say more? Oh, Behemoth, Dimmu Borgir, Testament, Iced Earth, Nile, Paradise Lost, Dio Disciples, even Alice Cooper is on the line-up. This is a major, major festival that appeals to  all tastes. Except those 30 minutes that we’ll be on stage, we won’t miss a second of it!

What are you looking forward to most at Bloodstock?

Again, MACHINE HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAD!!!!!! Oh and an honorable mention goes to Steve Hughes too; his stand up is definitely a must-watch!!

What can the audience expect from you at the festival?

They can expect a very dynamic performance that will connect with them all the way down to their lower spine. We write our music always bearing in mind how it would sound in a  “live” situation and our understanding of a good live situation is one that’s fast paced, melodic and memorable while delivering “punches in bunches”.

Can you sum up Bloodstock in one sentence?

England’s biggest, truly metal, festival!

Any message you wish to pass on to the PM readers?

Jokes aside, Bloodstock is stacked this year! It is a festival you DO NOT want to miss. So, if you happen to be around, do check us out on the “New Blood Stage” and feel free  to challenge our tolerance to beer; at your own peril though!!!

Thank you for taking the time out to complete this interview, we are looking forward to seeing you at Bloodstock \m/
