Summary:

With the re-release of Terrestrial, Camel Of Doom now have the independent music PR company San PR to help them get their unique doom message out to a wider audience.

The Camel of Doom re-released album Terrestrial is to put it bluntly a tough listen for those not familiar with the psych/doom genre.  On the other hand, for those that know all about it, what joy this album brings.  Kris Clayton, the driving force behind Camel Of Doom, has been making music since he was a 13 year old in 2001 and is now onto his 4th full blown album.

Terrestrial has a number of different elements to it over and above the psych/doom nature.  With four of the songs being well over the 10 minute mark these tend to evolve as the songs progress.  Sleeper Must Awake is a perfect example as we start with a bit of sludge metal which progressively gets faster then slows down to full on doom.  It doesn’t finish there as just after half way it changes again into a piece of great uplifting electronica mixed with a fantastic soaring guitar riff.

The other lengthy songs all have these changing elements to them and although finding the time to take in 10, 11 and 12 minute songs in our busy schedules can be difficult they are well worth the perseverance.

Spread in between those slabs of doom we have a couple of fillers in A Circle Has No End and Nine Eternities.  These add a bit of relief as we prepare for what comes next.

Perhaps the biggest surprise on the album is the last song Extending Life, Expanding Consciousness.  If you are at all familiar with the work of movie composer Hans Zimmer (Interstellar and Inception), then this falls right into that category and could easily have fit right into either of the aforementioned movies.  Perhaps Kris has a future in the movies.

The album was originally released back in February 2016.  It will now be re-released on 2nd December 2016 and has the backing of SaN PR to help give it that better exposure.  A new album is also planned for 2017 so bigger and better things to come from Camel Of Doom.
