Summary:

If you like 80s rock and AOR then Cornerstone are a band you should be listening to, and this album is a good place to start.

Austrian band Cornerstone are back with a new album, Reflections. It’s been five years since their last album, “Somewhere in America” and in that time the and have changed singer.  Sadly I’ve missed them whenver they’ve come to the UK, but definitely want to try and see them live at some point.  They’ve got a great melodic rock sound with a real 80’s feel to it

The album kicks off with “Nothing to lose” and you’re instantly transported back to the 80s with some great rock that reminds me of Pat Benatar. The vocals are great as are the guitars that pack a nice punch.

The piano at the start of “Whatever” signifies that this is a ballad, and it’s a very good one

“Heart on fire” opens with some synthesiser that gives it that strong 80s feel before the guitar joins in and then the vocals.  It’s a great melodic rock song and features a nice guitar solo.

The album ends with “Once”.  It’s piano and avoustic guitar gives a soft musical background which contrasts nicely against the vocals.  A nice end to the album

If you like 80s rock and AOR then Cornerstone are a band you should be listening to, and this album is a good place to start.

A great album and well worth checking out.

“Reflections” is out now.
