Doro – Garage, London – 22nd November 2015

First up were Archer – a metal band from Santa Cruz, California.  This three piece had plenty of enthusiasm but to be brutally honest I found them dull and mediocre with nothing at all to make them stand out from the sort of bands you can see playing gigs in pubs up and down the country. A poor start to the night.

After a short break it was time for German heavy metal legend Doro Pesch who has been making rock and metal music for over thirty years, first with Warlock and then with her own Doro band.

Doro is one of the hardest working performers around and is constantly touring, and that plus her years of experience help explain why she never disappoints – she always gives 100% on stage and loves what she does.  She has a lot of loyal fans, and is so good with the fans she recognises many of them, pointing out people who have travelled to the show from other countries.

Tonight’s set is a great mix of her own material and old Warlock songs and all go down well with the crowd.  She also sings the song she performed with Skyline for the Wacken festival “We are the metalheads”.

Doro loves getting close to the fans and often plays with no security pit between her and the fans but as there is a pit tonight it doesn’t take long for her to jump down from the stage so she can get up close to the fans, shaking hands and generally being close the them.

Her band have all been with her for a long time now, and are clearly having a great time together on stage.  They are al extremely good musicians and work well together to put in a flawless performance.

Hopefully Doro will release a new album soon – it’s been three years since the last one, and then we can look forward to her coming back for more uk dates.
