Download Festival announces Babymetal for Friday!

It seems you can’t get rid of foxes right now. Earlier this week Leicester City won the Premier League and now Download Festival have announced Babymetal will play the main stage on Friday this year!

In a move that shows the festival genuinely listen to opinion and the views of the punters, Andy Copping has relented on previous statement that he would never book the band outright and confirmed the Japanese phenomenon for the latest edition of weekend shenanigans at Donington Park. After a surprise appearance with Dragonforce at last year’s event, the teenage girls of Sumetal, Moametal and Yuimetal and their terrific Kami band will take to the Lemmy stage in their own rights and will show exactly why they nearly sold out Wembley Arena last month and sold more merchandise at the venue than any other act in history.

The band said: “So excited to come back to the UK next month! We will play the main stage at Download Festival. We are looking forward to seeing you all there!”

Download Festival takes place from 10th-12th June and will feature headline performances from Rammstein, Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden, with a whole host of other names taking part. For tickets and further info, visit www.downloadfestival.co.uk.
