Five Finger Death Punch really know how to throw a heavy metal party, and American Capitalist is the album of 2011 which makes you want to throw your fist in the air, guzzle a key of beer and have fun with a strangely attractive pole dancer called Sally. With aggressive guitar hooks, extremely catchy melodic chorus’s and new bass player Chris Kael smashing the strings on bass. Five Finger Death Punch have released the best album of their career, showing that the members of this band are some of the best musicians in the business and they are living the life of stars.

Let’s start by talking about how awesome Ivan Moody is as a front man. He put’s so much aggression, emotion and power into every single note that he sings. There is so much diversity in Moody’s vocals and whether it be the harsh bear like growl of ‘American Capitalist’ and ‘Under and Over it’, or the calm and surreal state of ‘Coming Down’ and ‘Remember Everything’ – Mr Moody leaves you speechless and eating out of the palm of his hand…. well, fist; while singing along with him in these killer metal anthems.

There is not one dull moment on this album and although the songs on American Capitalist may remind of you of 2007’s album Way of the Fist, we can see that Five Finger Death Punch are doing what they do best, writing and playing metal that pushes people’s buttons. It really hits you like a freight train straight from the beginning, and the charging heaviness never stops. It keeps pushing, punching and pummelling forward, hitting you at 100mph in the songs ‘Menace’, ‘Back for More’ and ‘Wicked Ways’ like the Hulk’s big green fist. Yes, it really does feel like that when you have this album blasting at 11 through your speakers.

The only main concern with American Capitalist in the artwork, and yes, you may be moaning that I’m a picky sod, but imagine if Iron Maiden got rid of a big picture of Eddie on the front cover of their albums. People would complain and it’s the same with Five Finger Death Punch. Yes, sure Mr. Death Head looks like he is living the good old life with L.A, with a nice fancy car, and an even fancier girl, but we miss him looking all hard, promoting war, violence and fighting. If anything, Mr. Death Head has turned gay….. But shhhhh, don’t tell him I said that!

Sounding like a hybrid between a raging bull and a T-Rex, Five Finger Death Punch has given their fans what they wanted. Eleven tracks of what Five Finger Death Punch do best. Gut wrenching, fist pumping, metal anthems which in the words of ‘Under and Over it’, makes you want to “Put your fist in the air, with your middle finger to the sky”! [9/10]
