‘Forever Wild, Beautiful And Damned’, the new greatest hits cd from Gypsy Pistoleros is a 14 track bundle of Latin flavoured Flamenco Glam, Sleaze, and Rock n Roll.
The Gypsy Pistoleros are one of those few bands that can claim to be truly unique, a statement firmly proven on this Greatest Hits cd
Opening up with the energetic ‘Living Down With The Gypsies’ the amigos waste no time in whipping up a flamenco storm, its easy to see why they don’t fit in any rock genre, they have created one all of there own, a bit of rock, a bit of punk, a bit of glam, add some Flamenco style, and this is what you get, think Hanoi rocks crossed with the gypsy kings.
It’s not all Flamenco though, with tracks like ‘Sangra De Las Roses’’ sounding like a late 80′s rock ballad with the Pistoleros own unmistakable grove.
‘Un Hombre Sin Rostro’ is no doubt my favorite track on this, its full of great guitar work and well worked trumpets, sounds odd, but give it a listen, you’ll be back for more.
Moonchild’ is very reminiscent of the Mariachi street bands you find in Mexico, and in the film ‘From Dusk Till Dawn’, this goes down great, like a chilled bottle of San Miguel..
No review of this would be complete without mentioning the crowd pleasing Ricky Martin cover ‘Livin’ La Vida Loca’ and what a cover it is, totally reworked in the Gypsy’s style, this is one of the best cover versions of any song ive heard in some time.
This is a quality ‘Greatest Hits’ cd, and will be a sound starting point for those people who are looking for something slightly different to add to their music collection.
