Headcount – ‘Lullabies For Dogs’

Headcount - Lullabies For Dogs ArtworkOxford trio Headcount’s sound has previously been described, elsewhere I hasten to add, as “Adam And The Ants being sodomized by Therapy?”.

Certainly, on the basis of this new album, I can see the former comparison, as well as to the likes of Teardrop Explodes and maybe early, commercialized, stoner, but the Northern Irish post-punk godfathers reference is a bit beyond me, to be honest.  As is the reason why an album of this nature would be submitted to a heavy metal website…

Nevertheless, ‘Lullabies…’ is a pleasant enough slice of post-pop alt-rock – if you’re into that sort of thing….
