Summary:

A punk release that's well worth a listen - a fitting tribute to singer Garry Borland.

Heavy Drapes were a fast rising band on the punk scene and had grown rapidly in the space of a couple of years. Then in June this year, just 48 hours after performing at Rebellion festival in Amsterdam, singer Garry Borland died, not living long enough to see the release of their debut album. Since then the band has been quiet apart from performing in two benefit concerts in September to raise money for Garry’s family. However in the background the remaining members of the band plus producer mark Freegard have been busy working to make sure the album was finished and released. The album, “Crashing like stars” will be released in February 2019 through Cadiz music.

Listening to the album, my thoughts are that Garry Borland would surely have been happy with this album – it’s a damn good release. It’s a great punk album that’s best listened to at a very high volume (I’m sure the neighbours won’t mind hearing it). It’s got power and energy and a nice raw edge to it and it’s an album I’m really enjoying listening to.
