ILL NINO announce new album “Epidemia” details!

Two years after “Dead New World“, and the immense UK Tour that came with it, AFM are pleased to announce the full track listing and details of the new Ill Nino album “Epidemia” which will have its release here on October 29th. The initial release will be as a special digipack.

Recording has once again taken place in the respective band members cities of Hoboken (New Jersey), Austin (Texas) and Denver (Colorado).

As anyone who saw distinguished hard rock mainstays Ill Niño on the band’s last UK tour will testify, this band is still a terrifying entity live and on record. And when they admitted this year, that they were aiming to up the ante even further on their sixth album “Epidemia”, now due for release through Victory/AFM Records, it was a mean promise indeed…..

Ill Nino was founded in 1998’ New Jersey, and first came to prominence when signing with Roadrunner in 2000, a deal that would see them catapulted into the world of rapidly evolving US metal at the same time as Sepultura and Machine Head were becoming global phenomenae. The band released their debut album “Revolution Revolucion”on September 18, 2001 and were immediately drafted in as part of the Ozzfest and Jagermeister tours. The album’s single, “What Comes Around,” received significant airplay on MTV2, and the band went on to feature on tours worldwide. A new album – later entitled “Confession” – saw some significant line up changes as Couto was joined by none other than ex Machine Head guitar player Ahrue Luster in the new recording line up….. But, thankfully, this worked and “Confession” (released on September 30, 2003 and debuting at No. 37 on the Billboard 200 – with its lead single, “How Can I Live” being featured on the “Freddy V. Jason” soundtrack and becoming their first single to break into the mainstream charts) became very quickly one of the bands key early highlights.

Several significant releases followed, but in March 2010 the refreshed band (line up intact) now announced that they had inked a deal with the influential Victory stable and would be returning to the the studio to build upon the success of previous album “Enigma”, with Chavarri, Machado, Pina, and Luster (assisted by Sahaj Ticotin (RA) and Clint Lowery (Sevendust) in the producers chair…..  Mixed by Eddie Wohl (36 Crazyfists, Anthrax, World Fire Brigade), the album was called “Dead New World”, but it was merely a steppingstone to even greater efforts, as the band toured for nearly 2 years solid before settling down, again in their own respective studios, to write once again. Work started in New Jersey, but now the band are ready to begin pulling back the curtains on “Epidemia”, the album that will become the bridge between the old and the new.

Says Chavarri of “Epidemia” – “This time around we really wanted to explore some more of the Latin and tribal rhythms we have never explored on the past five releases, giving us no musical boundaries at all.”

And it’s definitely true. Yes it’s heavy…. As singer Christian Machado admits, “It’s 2012; we’re still alive!!! It’s time to redefine ‘Latin Metal’!!”– But it’s got a groove and a melody that is as sharp as needles…….

Known for their bi-lingual vocal, Ill Nino have defined a generation of metal fans for 15 years now, and led many to describe them as the future of that generation. But “Epidemia” is as much about refeshment, and still keeping true to one’s sound, as it is about leading from the front. The band has come this far due to its incredible work ethic, performing thousands of shows worldwide and being gifted with sales in excess of 1 million albums. Yet, Christian Machado has never sounded more clinical yet melodic, the band tight and sharp; so check out the new record and look out for live dates soon!!

Ill Nino will begin the “Epidemia” World Tour with a full American assault this fall (with Hed Pe), but with plans for the whole of 2013 well advanced, they’re sure to be knocking on our doors yet again…..
