Karydbis – Pre Fest Interview Bloodstock 2013

KarydbisKarydbis are set to play the New Blood Stage at this years Bloodstock festival on Friday the 9th August. They recently wowed the crowd at Les-Fest 2 up in Scotland.

We catch up with the band to find out more about them, the festival, their thoughts and what you lucky Bloodstock go-er’s will see!

Can you give the readers a quick introduction to the band.

We are Karybdis, (Ka-rib-dis) a 5 piece metal/death metal band from London. Formed in 2009, current line-up since 2011 is:
Rich (vox)
Mitch (Drums)
Harsha (guitar)
Pierre (guitar)
Jay (bass)
We collect souls through the headphones of those who listen to us.

How would you describe your sound.

Our sound is a mix of many sub genres of the metal spectrum, we have been influenced by bands like The Black Dahlia Murder, Lamb of God, All Shall Perish but we generally just say “We’re pretty heavy”

Why did you want to become part of the New Blood Stage line up.

WHY?? Why wouldn’t we?? Haha! Well, we have been playing extensively now for a couple of years and felt it was time to step it up, we thought that the New Blood stage has proven to do well for other bands who have played it, and apart from obviously getting the chance to play one of the UK’s biggest metal festivals, we feel it will be a good way to get our name out there to the serious metal heads that only emerge at such festivals!

What was your initial reaction when you found out you were playing on the New Blood Stage?

We accidentally killed Margaret Thatcher on a  5 night bender, celebrating. All the relentless ‘news’ about the cost of her funeral and such…. Our fault. Sorry guys!

What can the audience expect from you at the festival.

A fun and energetic performance playing a headbanging set from our debut album, From the Depths, and a couple if new songs we have been working on that are brutality personified….in song form… Haha!

What has been the bands biggest achievement so far?

I’d like to think we are all proud of the fact we have not yet killed each other… But anything could happen between now and Bloodstock! Haha! Seriously, I think getting on the bill at Bloodstock and Techfest this year is our biggest and most exciting achievement so far.

Have you ever been to Bloodstock before? If so when and what did you enjoy most about it.

We are virgins to Bloodstock but I can imagine that our most enjoyable moments will be actually playing and seeing Lamb of God

What is your opinion of the Bloodstock line-up.

The line-up this year is looking great! It seems to be getting stronger and stronger each year! As a band we are excited to be playing the same festival as some of the biggest metal acts around in the world.

What are you looking forward to most at Bloodstock.

Apart from getting absolutely shitfaced… We are most looking forward to actually playing of Friday, then being able to relax and take in the bands we want to see over the rest of the weekend.

Can you sum up Bloodstock in one sentence!

No. Just one word… METAAAAAAAAAAAAAL!!!!!!!!!!!

Any message you wish to pass on to the PM readers

If any of you guys are at Bloodstock come check us out, you bring the drink and we’ll supply the music… we promise not to disappoint.

Rich.

Thank you for taking the time out to complete this interview, we are looking forward to seeing you at Bloodstock \m/ \m/
