L.A Guns – Craufurd arms, Milton Keynes – 5th September 2018

Stone Trigger

First up tonight was Stone trigger from Dublin. They’re a great fit for the tour with their sleaze/hard rock sound. Despite being on quite early there’s already a good sized crowd before they start, and It got busier and busier as their set went on. It’s a sign of how good they were that there were very few fans in the bar during the set – they’d almost all chosen to come in and watch the opening act. Stone Trigger put in a great performance and with a great frontman they really did impress. A great start to the night.

Jared James Nichols

Jared James Nichols was up next. He’s a bit different to the other two bands tonight as his music is blues based hard rock. What he does have in common with Tracii Guns though is he’s one hell of a good guitarist, and with the help of a great band he puts in a fantastic set. I had wondered before the show if the fact he has such a different sound would affect how well he went down, but the crowd tonight recognise good music when they hear it and the near-capacity crowd definitely enjoy the set. He even gets them singing along during “Can you feel it”.
Toward the end of the set Jared James Nichols tells the crowd that one of the best guitarists in the world is watching from side stage and brings on Tracii Guns. Tracii plays a Black Sabbath cover (NIB) with Jared and his band, before he and Jared jam for a while. It’s a great highlight of the set – especially since it’s something that hasn’t happened on every night of the tour, instead sometimes it happens and when it does then what they play varies.

L.A. Guns

Finally it was time for L.A. Guns. After years of having two versions of the band, Tracii Guns and Phil Lewis have reunited and it’s great that they have as we have the founder of the band and talented guitarist Tracii Guns plus the great vocals of Phil Lewis. Kicking off with “No mercy” and “Electric gypsy” the fans are loving it from the start. As an intro to “Over the edge” Tracii Guns plays his electric guitar with a bow.
As well as classic L.A. Guns hits, we also get “Speed” from their 2017 album “The missing peace”. It goes down just as well as the older material, but it’s soon back to the classics with “One more reason”.

Tonight was a fantastic gig – three great bands, all of whom went down well with the crowd.
