The time has finally arrived for the first announcement for Les-Fest 2, Scotland’s Only Rock and Metal Festival 2013.
The festival is being held on Friday 28th June until Sunday 30th June 2013 and returning to the same venue as before Valley International Park, Crossford, North Lanarkshire.
It is a great honour in more ways than one, for us to introduce Sarah Jezebel Deva as part of the first announcement for Les-Fest 2. Firstly as ex lead vocalist with Cradle of Filth one of the most legendary Black Metal bands in British history and with album sales in excess of 2 million this shows the quality and level of artist we can now attract in our second year. Secondly this will be Sarah’s first and only appearance in Scotland as a solo artist.
We are also delighted to confirm Brighton based Furyon, a new band from the UK, who likes nothing more than to challenge expectations. Raised on a diet of heavy metal, prog and classic rock, they mix all these components for a truly unique and contemporary sound, delivering huge rock radio friendly songs, with technically challenging, yet infectiously catchy musicianship.
We will also be joined by London based 6 piece, Slam Cartel, their knockout debut album, Handful Of Dreams, is packed full of demon hooks, coruscating riffs, boss grooves, and rousing choruses.
A bit closer to home we are delighted to have secured the services of Glasgow based Achren! Their brand of metal is crushingly heavy and uncompromising, filled with raw and razor sharp riffs, death metal growls, black metal screams, and pounding drums they create a unique and commandeering sound.
We are also delighted to bring back two of THE major successes of our first Les-Fest. First up we have probably one of the hottest metal acts in the UK at the moment Chester’s Severenth they deliver technically excellent tight metal, with dual guitars and outstanding vocals and a truly charismatic stage performance.
They will be joined by Aberdeen based Estrella their sound is primarily 70/80s infused rock awash with melody and riffs, thunderous beats and anthemic choruses both very different in style but also both unmissable.
To further reinforce our commitment to new unsigned, upcoming and underground bands we have also just very recently confirmed two major successes from this years Bloodstock Festival; Bull-Riff Stampede who bring power, aggression and exuberance combined with vicious guitar lines and a heavy rhythm section, but also fortunate to be blessed with one of the most brutal yet articulate voices in metal.
Then North West based thrashers Derision, intense, energetic and one of THE bands to watch in the next 12 months.
They will be joined by a band that we personally witnessed 12 months ago live in Exeter at the Real Devon Rocks Festival, (yeah we travel that far afield to find the best acts) the band with a bucket load of hattertude, Mad Hatter 2.0. We tried really hard to secure their services in 2012 but it was not to be, so we are really pleased to get them for 2013, we just hope that Scotland is ready for their groovy, bouncing, sticks in your head brand of metal.
All the above will be joined by two more rising stars for 2013, playing real classic heavy metal with soaring female vocals, thundering riffs and screaming solos from Edinburgh, we have the Metal Hammer recommended Firebrand Super Rock and from North Wales, the alternative rock/metal band Artisfiction, guaranteed to help you get “your mosh on”
To conclude this first announcement of eleven bands for 2013, we are also going to confess we lied.
The final act to be announced within our first twelve announced tonight is Afterlife with the Reilly brothers, Steve and Al sharing lead guitar and bass roles, respectively this band will be familiar to many (especially Alter Bridge fans) and we know that they will enjoy bringing their no nonsense hard working, hard rocking ethic to everyone at Les-Fest 2.
So there you have it, the first twelve bands for 2013.
Early bird discounted tickets are available from Monday 6pm via the website www-les-fest.co.uk. Get them quickly because they are strictly limited.
Next announcement in November.
