Los Bastardos Finlandeses – Day of the dead

Los Bastardos Finlandeses - Day of the deadLos Bastardos Finlandeses come from Finland (as you probably guessed from the name).  Without that Finland reference then with the Spanish name, the names of their previous releases (My name is El Muerte; Return of El Diablo; El Grande’s saloon & Saved by rock’n’roll) and the names of the band members you could be forgiven for thinking they come from Mexico or just over the border in Texas rather than Helsinki, but no, these beer drinking musicians are Finnish.

So, what can you expect musically?  Well quite simply it’s catchy kick-ass rock and roll.  Listening to it I’d judge some of the influences to include Thin Lizzy, Zodiac Mindwarp and Motorhead.  The vocals of singer El Taff Bastardo have a Lemmy-style rasping quality.

Brief comments on a couple of tracks..

The album kicks off with “Smokin’ dynamite”, a mid paced track with nice strong guitar riffs.  A good start to the album

“Rocket science” is another great rock track – a nice fast pace and strong chorus make this a song that is sure to go down well at any gig.

The whole album really is good – it’s good-time rock and roll, that’s good and heavy but at the same time is catchy and perfect for a drunken singalong.  Definitely well worth a listen.

Check out this video from their last album…
