Lynne Jackaman, Hoxton Bar & Grill, London, Tuesday 16th June 2015

Tonight was the official launch party of ex St Jude singer, Lynne Jackaman’s new E.P ‘No Halo’, although it is not officially released until the 10th July. As well as performing the whole E.P she also debuted new material and performed with a full band.
Despite the nerves being evident, she thanked everybody for coming and kicked off with three songs from the EP. Opening with No Halo (On Me), she powers soulfully and effortlessly through it, with her confidence growing, the next two songs, Wasted and Honesty (Can Be So Cruel) are nothing short of spellbinding. Despite this, two pricks standing in front of me continue to talk to each other throughout her performance. I ended up giving them a mouthful and moving to one side and then to the rear. Totally disrespectful and no need for it, at least the camera phones only came out for a few photo’s.
Nobody’s Fault (But Yours) is the final song before the band break for an Acoustic session.
This three song acoustic section sees’s Lynne sing ‘My Beautiful Loss’ and then the St Jude era ‘Angel’ before a truly breathtaking version of the Blind Faith classic ‘Can’t Find My Way Home’.
The band, which includes Guy Griffin and Nick Mailing from the Quireboys is welcomed back on stage for another new song ‘Future Ex’, then the final track on the E.P ‘You Can’t Take Back’ and finally ‘I’m Losing You’ closes this truly amazing gig.

We got an encore, off course, and what an encore it was.
The encore starts with the Aretha Franklin classic (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman, you have to hear Lynne’s version, it made the hair on my arms stand up, such emotion in her singing.
Lynne’s one and only solo spot of the night has her sitting at a piano singing ‘On My Own Stage’ which comes complete with a mid song nervous mistake, she laughs and carries on, endearing herself to everyone there.
After a massive round of applause, Lynne asked if we minded if she did ‘Wasted’ again as the final song, and who could say no.

Last night’s gig really was sensational. Lynne really showed that as a singer/songwriter she is up there with the best on them, her voice is amazingly powerful, sultry and soulful , yet she can also sing Kick-ass rock & roll when needed.
I felt privileged to be there and witness what can only be described as Lynne Jackaman finally becoming recognisable as a singer of the highest calibre.
