Never Found – Interview

Darkly post-hardcore crew NEVER FOUND release ‘The Human Condition’ on 6th October, we sat down with the band to find out more……

What is the full band line-up, who plays what?

Daniel Barnes – Vocals/Guitar,
Samuel Redmayne – Lead Guitar,
James Sweeten – Bass Guitar,
Kieran Ivey – Drums.

How and when did the band form?

The band formed in late 2014 when 3 of the members were part of a music course in Bridgend college. Dan and Sweeten had been writing songs together since they were in school and with bass players being like gold dust Sweeten (James) joined while he remained in Oxford.

Tell us anything interesting about your hometown.

We think the most interesting thing about our hometown(s) is are how different they are! the Welsh valleys are famous for coal mines, Oxford is renowned for its world class universities! It’s a real clash.

When and how did the band really start gelling and solidifying?

The band started solidifying just before the release of our debut E.P, The response we got for just announcing it was incredible! It took us back a bit and we realised that people are taking us seriously here. From that point to now we have been endlessly working on improving every aspect of the band and us as individuals.

What are your musical influences?

The four of us differ so much in musical taste! But there are a few bands we all enjoy that we feel have an influence towards our writing. If we have to name the biggest influences we would say they are:

Bullet For My Valentine, Aiden, Papa Roach, and A Day To Remember.

Who have you played with?

Some notable bands we’ve played with are Fearless Vampire Killers, William Control, Annisokay and we scored the opening support slot on Aidens last ever tour.

If a deaf person were to ask you to describe the sound of your music, how would you describe it?

To put it simply, we think it is like a volcano going off. You can run from it or you can embrace it. Its big, dark and loud. Whether you chose to run or stay, it’s hard not to look at it in wonder or disgust.
