If you ever thought that hair metal and glam rock has never been so dead, then Finnish band Reckless Love are the revivalists of this extremely awesome genre , putting a 21st century kick into tight spandex and puffy hair. Sounding like a mix between Motley Crue and Aerosmith, with a few sexual innuendos thrown in, Reckless Love’s new album Animal Attraction really does bring out the beast in this band – pulling no punches when trying to be the loudest, proudest and sexiest band on the entire planet. It’s like a time machine, taking the listener back to the years when rock was at its best….. The 80’s, and now in 2011, it’s sounding better than ever!

Animal Attraction is exactly how a hair metal album should sound. Sharp killer guitar hooks, slick bass grooves, all under a high pitched vocal cry, which makes Justin Hawkins seem like he hit puberty at the age of 9. Its crazy listening to hair metal revived when tracks like ‘Animal Attraction’, ‘Born to Break Your Heart’ and ‘Fantasy’ comes blazing out of your speakers. They are not only great to admire musically, they are great to sing along to, making it easy to pick up the words after the 1st or 2nd time of listening to them.

Compared to Reckless Love’s debut album, Animal Attraction has a lot more synthesiser parts in it and, put’s a new twist of 80’s cheesy pop into the mix. If it wasn’t for this element, Animal Attraction wouldn’t be as amazing as it is. When tracks like main single ‘Hot’, the sexual ‘Dirty Dreams’ and the song that gets your ass shaking ‘Dance’ hit you the most memorable bit (apart from the funny ass chorus’s) are the crazy synth parts in the bridge, making this album very memorable.

The only problem with Animal Attraction is that there is quite a lot of filler on this album. After 2010’s debut release, it’s a shame that 35% of this album is songs, that to be frankly honest, suck compared to singles like ‘Speedin’ and ‘Fight’. If Reckless Love ditched the last four songs on this album, and replaced them with catchy, musical, over the top, cheesy hair metal tunes Then Animal Attraction would have been one of the finest albums of 2011, combining: Hair Metal, Glam Rock, pop and vile dirty puns, combined to make one hell of record.

This is a must have album for any fan of true rock, reviving the rock n roll spirit to anyone who listens to this album. This is only album number two for the Finnish glam rockers, and with eight more killer tracks added to their repertoire, Reckless Love show that they are the kings of modern day glam rock! [8/10]
