Summary:

36 Crazyfists and not one of them was used to write a good song. There has never been a more apt album title; "Time and Trauma" is a waste of time and will leave you with some bad metal Trauma.

Time and Trauma” is the sixth studio album by Alaskan metal band 36 Crazyfists. The album will be released in the UK in about a week or so and it is awful; words cannot describe how awful it is. It sounds like something ripped from a failed metalcore abortion from 2006. Avoid it like you owe it money.

Okay, I’ll review it a little more. This isn’t even a fun bad album. It’s just a bad bad album. The overall tone of the album is dull and dank. Not in a neat black metal way; in a sour off-putting, lazy, everything that I hate about metal way. Every element of this album from the song writing to the production is years behind the times. Fans could do a better job. Actually, check out #STANGER15 lads. They should’ve had a crack at this one.

The first four songs on the album are the total pits. There’s nothing to hook you into the tracks, no melodic breaks, no cool riffs nor good vocals. IN fact, the vocals are woeful. Lads, did you not listen to it before signing off on it? What were you thinking?

The title track “Time and Trauma” starts off good but the wheels fall fast off and then it nose dives into a flaming fireball, so the village below can urinate on it. “Also Am I” is a fun little track. That said, it’s not good; but it is different and it’s kind of like they were trying to produce something outside of the monotonical “riffs” vomited up by the band members.

“Translator” and “Silencer” are, again, awful. The band seem to be very fond of riding the root in their riffs and it shows. There is no musicianship here and it’s just so upsetting that they were given the chance to waste time like this.  Terrible work; no wonder the genre died out and produced Black Veil Brides in the vacuum.

“Silvers” is a nice little hardcore song track and it is by being the only okay track on the release. The standout song of the album but that too is very boring and trying for the most part.

I have never been upset reviewing an album but thanks to 36 Crazyfists that has changed. Hmm, 36 Crazyfists and not one of them was used to write a good song. This is  whole thing is a bust; avoid it and listen to 2006 era Killswitch Engage instead. There has never been a more apt album title; “Time and Trauma” is a waste of time and will leave you with some bad metal Trauma.
