Seether – Forum, London – 16th October 2017

Sons of Texas

The night started with Sons of Texas. Taking to the stage quite early on at 7.30, the venue was only half full but it did fill up steadily during their set. The Texas based band played material from their 2015 debut album (Baptised in the Rio Grande) and their new album, released just a couple of weeks ago (Forged by fortitude). It’s great hard rock with a lot of power and the band are constantly racing around the stage, with singer Mark Morales regularly leaping into the air. It’s a great set and the cheers they get from the crowd suggest they gained a load of new fans tonight.

LTNT

Next up were London band LTNT. A three-piece, they cetainly got peoples interest when they walked on stage – three guys wearing long dresses. The music is alt-rock and for a three-piece it’s surprisingly loud, powerful and heavy, and while it’s good, it just doesnt seem to grab the fans in the same way Sons of Texas did, and while they get plenty of applause, it’s clear the audience deemed them the weakest band on the bill.

Finally it was time for Seether and even before the house lights went down people were chanting their name, and things just got louder as the band came on stage. I’d like to say the stage lights came on too, but they didn’t really other than the ones behind them, so fans were treated to silhouettes of the band rather than good views of them.
Musically though they were superb and put in a really good performance. They kicked off with “Stoke the fire” from their latest album, Poison the parish, the first of three songs from that album to be played tonight. It’s a strong set and one that goes down well with the fans tonight. A great end to a good night.
