I am always thrilled to receive CD’s from the farthest corners of the Earth, and even more pleased when I get one from a band who I KNOW will make it big if the rest of the world was aware of them. Indonesia’s underground thrash metal heroes Social Black Yelling are the future of thrash metal; and they don’t pull any punches in showing it on their new killer record Mankind Under Condemnation. With fast paced riffs similar to Evile and a vocalist who sounds like a younger version of Sy Keeler from Onslaught, Social Black Yelling have created a monster of a thrash metal album that hopefully when you read this will make you want to order ten of them straight away!

What’s odd with Mankind Under Condemnation is that even though it has been written and recorded by a band that doesn’t have the facilities and equipment to get the best sound for an album. The sound quality is great; making songs like: The fist pumping ‘Rudeness Beyond the Wall’, the extremely fast ‘Disturbance Territory’ and the track which will make you headband like a mentalist ‘Feel Insanity’ 500 times louder and extremely razor like and precise.

There are so many great songs on this album, and Social Black Yelling doesn’t repeat the same idea, keeping each song on Mankind Under Condemnation unique and different to the last. Adding up to a total of just over 30 minutes, the songs on Mankind Under Condemnation are all aggressive, mosh pit, chant along thrash metal anthems that would put the likes of Sodom, Overkill, Evile and Kreator to shame. The musicianship is skilful, the song writing is well structured and best of all tracks like ‘Hexagon’ and ‘Emosi Distorsi’ are so catchy, making it easy for the listener to pick up the tune of every song on this album within no time.

This album is so good that it really is a shame that it is over so quickly. It will bring a tear to your eye when you have charged your way through eight of the best thrash metal songs of the last decade. If Social Black Yelling could have wrote just a few more songs and rounded the album to around 45 minutes of tunes like ‘Defiance Generation’ and ‘Il Principle’ then this album would have been faultless, and not one of the highlights of the year…… The highlight of the year!

There are big things yet to happen for Social Black Yelling, and like all bands starting up they need to start off running. Yes. Mankind Under Condemnation is just the album to do that. Hopefully with this review and a second album coming out in the near future, Social Black Yelling will earn their rightful place with the gods of thrash metal. [9/10]
