Summary:

A great album that fans of that 70s sound should definitely listen to.

Spiders - Shake electricSwedish band Spiders have a retro sound – it’s more 1970’s than 2014, and that’s certainly not a bad thing given how many great bands were around in the 70s.  This album is the second album from the band – their debut album, “Flash point” was released in 2012.  Musically it’s fast heavy hard rock with a strong 70s feel to it and with some great vocals from Ann-Sofie Hoyles.  It’s not a pure 70s sound – there are modern influences too, but 70s hard rock bands such as UFO are the first ones you’d think of as influences.  As you listen to the album there are various influences, ranging from the hard rock to punk and blues.  The album has a real “live” feel to it – it does sound like the band just walked into the studio and played the songs completely live for the engineer to put on tape rather than the way many bands record albums where different members record their parts separately.

The 70s retro sound is one that’s proving very popular at the moment with various bands putting their own spin on the 70s rock sound, so Spiders are well positioned to benefit from that, and with an album this good they definitely deserve to win a whole load of fans.  A great album that fans of that 70s sound should definitely listen to.
