SYLOSIS ‘Monolith’ release date: 5th October 2012‏

Sylosis are set to release their new album “Monolith” on 5th October 2012. The eagerly anticipated new material is a concept album inspired by aspects of Greek Mythology.

Guitarist/Vocalist Josh Middleton says: “Monolith is the best representation of us as a band in terms of our diverse influences, and stylistically it’s what we’ve always been aiming for. A mixture of thrash, big doomy riffs and dark atmospherics and ambience.”

“The idea for the concept was very loosely inspired by the Greek tale of Orpheus and Eurydice,” continued Middleton. “It’s quite far-fetched but it’s about this guy who loses his wife and tries to bring her back from underworld. This giant monolith starts to grow out of her tomb. The most prevalent theme beneath it all is sort of accepting that you might not be as nice a person as you once thought. It sounds really cheesy but everyone has a darker side to their personality in terms of being selfish, manipulative or dishonest.”

In 2008, an uknown quartet from Reading, England released their debut album “Conclusion Of An Age” via Nuclear Blast Records, and made an instant impact on the European metal Scene. Sylosis blend modern thrash and traditional prog elements to create their own unique brutal sound. The band took this on the road with such bands as In Flames, As I Lay Dying, Lamb Of God and Fear Factory and festival appearances at the likes of Download, Wacken and Sonisphere.

High expectations were looming for the eagerly anticipated new material, and it kicked off to a great start when they entered the legendary Monnow Valley Studios (Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Rush) in Monmouth, Wales. Also this time teaming up with producer Romesh Dodangoda (Motorhead, Funeral For A Friend)

The outcome of those sessions produced the album “Monolith” which is an outstanding piece of work. 2012 looks to be an exciting year for Sylosis.

The new album “Monolith” is out on the 5th October 2012 through Nuclear Blast records.

The band issued this statement on their Facebook page regarding the cancellation of their slots on the ‘Epic Industralist Tour’ with Devin and Fear Factory.

Due to a change in our touring schedule, we’re really sorry to say that we’re dropping off the coming ‘Epic Industralist Tour’ with Devin and Fear Factory.

It was a huge honour to be picked for this tour and we know a lot of our fans across Europe were looking forward to checking us out. We will be back in Europe next year and will make it up to everyone who’s missing out. Thanks for your patience and understanding!

We have a big announcement tomorrow regarding the changes. Keep posted…  -Sylosis
