Tempus Fusion, pre-Bloodstock festival interview

Tempus Fusion is set to tear apart the New Blood Stage on Saturday 11th at this year’s Bloodstock.

We catch up with Tim to find out more about them, the festival and what you lucky Bloodstock go-er’s will see!

Can you give the readers a quick introduction to the band?

Greetings! Im Tim – lead guitar and songwriting, James Smith – Drums, David Stanton – Vocals and Bass, Max Pharnam – Vocals and Anth Quinn – Guitar.

The band is named Tempus Fusion which came from when I (Tim) misheard the phrase “Tempus Fugit” meaning “Time flies”. When I realized I had got it wrong I decided that I would actually keep it as the mistake as it seemed to fit in its own way.

The sound and style of the band is very much “Epic” metal! I am very much into huge walls of sound and ambiance and massive choruses. Anyone who is a fan of bands like Devin Townsend Project / Soilwork / Gojira etc will definitely dig it.

The band started as a recording project for myself and after a while, I showed some of the tunes to James who really liked it and just like that, I had a drummer. Max and Dave were already helping with the project by recording the vocals and both were really up for making it into a live band so it pretty much happened on its own.

Have you ever been to Bloodstock before? If so when and what did you enjoy most about it?

This is my 7th year in a row! The other guys have all been before a few times. My fav BOA story is last year when James, Dave and myself got to see DTP from the side of the stage. Best day ever!

Why did you want to become part of the New Blood Stage line up?

Because its bloodstock! Having been such a big fan of the festival for many years, its great that I can say I have played their too! Being with the band that I started makes it a bit special for me, too.

What was your initial reaction when you found out you where playing on the New Blood Stage?

Massive excitement! We got the email through and instantly went to the pub for a victory pint! Cannot wait!

What is your opinion of the Bloodstock lineup?

This year has the death metaller inside me going nuts! Behemoth, Nile, and of course Dimmu and Machine head!

What are you looking forward to most at Bloodstock?

Besides our set, seeing Bloodshot Dawn on Thursday and just meeting up with all the randoms. We have some great fans scattered around the country who get to see us for the first time so really looking forward to saying Hi to them.

What can the audience expect from you at the festival?

Hopefully a band they like! It probably will be the best crowd we have had, and we are definitely going to be on top form!

Can you sum up Bloodstock in one sentence?

Bloodstock is like a metallers home away from home.

Any message you wish to pass on to the PM readers.

Come find us after the show! We want to say ‘Yo’ and get some beers in.

Thank you for taking the time out to complete this interview, we are looking forward to seeing you at Bloodstock \m/
