THE WINERY DOGS are keen to confirm that their second, self-produced studio album, ‘Hot Streak’, is set for release on October 2 in the UK via earMUSIC. It is preceded by the first single, ‘Oblivion’, which the band debuted this week via SoundCloud at http://loudwire.com/the-winery-dogs-oblivion-exclusive-song-premiere/.  A double vinyl edition of the new album is also in the works and is due out in early November.

‘Hot Streak’ clearly demonstrates that the pedigree trio’s initial burst of collective chemistry was no accident. From the strum and headbang of ‘Captain Love’ to the propulsive vibe of ‘The Bridge’ and the introspective, acoustic, harmonic convergence of ‘Fire’, ‘Hot Streak’ ups the aural ante..

“I feel we’ve taken the band to another level,” states Richie Kotzen (lead vocals & guitar). “The compositions are stronger on this album. I feel more connected lyrically and musically to what I did on this record than on the last one. We’ve widened the musical scope of the band on this record and moved it forward.”

Mike Portnoy (drums) elaborates, “Everything on this album was more of a collaboration than on the first album. There’s just a natural chemistry. The three of us really mesh very, very well, both musically and personally. The mission of this band is to write catchy songs, and not have musicianship overpower that.”

“I’m glad we’re not playing it safe and just doing songs that automatically fit in the category of what we did on the first record,” Billy Sheehan (bass) concludes. “Some of them are a little different, and we definitely took chances. And you have to do that — otherwise, you don’t grow.”

The trio first burst onto the Rock scene with their self-titled, self-produced, and critically acclaimed debut album (released Summer 2013 by earMUSIC and Loud & Proud Records) and a sold-out worldwide tour.  ‘The Winery Dogs’ debuted on Billboard’s “Top Alternative Albums” chart at #3, “Top Independent Albums” chart at #4, “Top Rock Albums” chart at #5, “Top Internet Albums” at #8 and “Top 200 Albums” chart at #27.

‘Hot Streak’ includes:

  1. 01. Oblivion
  2. 02. Captain Love
  3. 03. Hot Streak
  4. 04. How Long
  5. 05. Empire
  6. 06. Fire
  7. 07. Ghost Town
  8. 08. The Bridge
  9. 09. War Machine
  10. 10. Spiral
  11. 11. Devil You Know
  12. 12. Think It Over

After playing over 100 shows in support of their debut, THE WINERY DOGS are eager to head back out on the road and have already lined up an extensive US tour, kicking off October 3 in Connecticut and wrapping November 8 at San Diego’s House of Blues. International fans won’t have too long to wait though as shows around the globe are currently being racked up for 2016.

About Louise Swift

I first went to a gig in 1981, Gillan at Leeds University. I've been a regular gig goer ever since. I haven't kept count of how many gigs I've been to over the intervening years, but it's a lot! My favourite bands are AC/DC then, in no particular order, Anti-Nowhere League, Slaughter and the Dogs, Towers of London and Dirt Box Disco. I tend to like Glam/Punk and rude offensive lyrics, not sure what that says about me but as Animal would say 'So What!' The question was recently put to me - did I write for any online publications? My reply - No, but I'd like to! Planetmosh was suggested and I found myself offering to review Aces High Festival. Easy peasy I thought! Well not quite, if a jobs worth doing it's worth doing well! I had sixteen bands to research. I found I actually enjoyed that and it kept me too busy to be making lunatic comments on Facebook! ;) Then I felt a bit inadequately qualified. I mean, who am I to comment on others, when my musical expertise extends to being able to play a mean Greensleeves on the recorder and a passable Annie's song on the flute! Haven't picked up either instrument for years! What I do have, however, is over 30 years of experience as a gig goer, so I can comment on what I like and what I don't! It's only my opinion and, if I don't like a band it doesn't mean they are bad, just not to my own liking. I admire anyone who has the guts to get up on that stage and have a go!
