An album which just popped out of the blue, Sitting Pretty by Clitheroe based punk n’ roll, (or as they like to call it silly rock) band, Those Dirty Words, is a genre defying album – combining elements of blues, punk and rock n’ roll to create a musically stimulating, ballsy rock record. Those Dirty Words prove why they are a cut above the rest with their debut album, and with eight all killer, no filler sing along anthems in their repertoire, have hit the ground running with this release. Released on the 1st of January, this is the first album of 2012, and by its sheer audacity and awesomeness already looks like it will be in most people’s top 20’s of the year!
There are so many superb tracks on Sitting Pretty and the fact that each song is so varied and diverse from the previous makes this 
album all the more enjoyable. From the retro sounding guitar lines of ‘Shadows’, to the fast paced, fist and your face attitude of ‘Stranglehold’, Those Dirty Words inject so much musical flare into each of these songs making them memorable, accessible and most of all enjoyable. This is an album that you can never get bored of listening to, there is so much musically going on each song and takes quite a few times to listen to eventually appreciate the musicianship that has gone into this album.
Each individual member of Those Dirty Words is a super talented musician and you can pick up on their musical influences and style in every note they play. Where songs like ‘Overdrive’ and ‘Crash and Burn’ are the guitarists and drummers time to shine, tracks such as ‘Darling……. You Must Behave’ and ‘Hate Me’, show the true colours of the bass player Jimmy, and the lead singer Paul Tierney; who can only be described as the most underrated up and coming rock vocalist ever. His voice is so passionate and powerful, putting his heart and soul into every track.
Sitting Pretty is such a catchy album and you can easily pick up the chorus to every track on the record from the first listen. These are songs that where written with the purpose to be played live, and you can tell that when these songs are dropped in concert, the whole place will turn into bedlam. It’s so good to know that a band sound just as good live than on album and if you have never seen Those Dirty Words before and want to know what songs like ‘Overdrive’, ‘Stranglehold’, ‘Shadows’ and ‘Hate Me’ sound lik4 live, you definitely need to ensure you are free next time they are in your town. THEY WILL BLOW YOUR MIND!
Those Dirty Words have started 2012 off with a bang and Sitting Pretty is the magic carpet of an album that will fly them into the big league. The UK rock scene has never been better, but after the release of Sitting Pretty, Those Dirty Words have raised the barrier once more and have proved that they are the kings of their chosen genre.
