Triverse Massacre – Interview

Brit riff beasts Triverse Massacre make their mark with the release of their new EP Hades, out 26th May. We sat down for a chat and got the guys to fill us in on their background….

What is the full band line-up, who plays what?

We have Liam Stark on vocals, James Graham and Chris Kelsall on guitars, Jason McEwan on bass and last but not least Mike Collins on drums.

How and when did the band form?

We formed around 2010, had a few line-up changes to get to where we are now but we’re here. We are the amalgamation of two bands that had had members leave, we had Jason come over to play bass and Chris followed a few days after to pick up the second guitar and its carried on from there with the original Triverse Massacre name.

Tell us anything interesting about your hometown.

Well it smells like biscuits a lot, due to the factory, which isn’t a bad thing. Carlisle has survived two “once in a lifetime” floods, which may or may not be due to the cursed stone depending on how superstitious you are and we have a god damn castle.

When and how did the band really start gelling and solidifying?

It started around the time we were writing the last EP “With Bared Teeth and Truths”, and we’ve just grown as a band since then. Winning the Metal 2 The Masses and playing Bloodstock brought us closer as a band and the new EP “HADES”, really shows how we’ve evolved as a band.

What are your musical influences?

Collectively we have quite an eclectic range of influences, but our sound is mainly evolved from the heavy metal/rock umbrella, unsurprisingly. Metallica, Lamb of God, Black Dahlia Murder, Cannibal Corpse, At The Gates, Slayer and the likes, bits of black metal thrown in here and there for good measure.

Where have you played or toured?

We’ve covered a lot of the area beyond the wall (Scotland), a lot of the North of England, North East, a bit of the south, although we consider Lancaster the South so not too far down south, which is something that will change this year.

If a deaf person were to ask you to describe the sound of your music, how would you describe it?

We would get Jamesy to sign it to them as he’s fluent in sign language and we’d probably get him to say we play heavy as sin, fast as hell, growly devil music.

Do you have a tour on the horizon?

We are currently working on one around the release of the new EP “HADES”, the next big show for us is with Divine Chaos on Saturday 22nd April were we will be giving people the chance to pickup the EP weeks before its officially announced. We cant wait to let people hear the new songs and will hopefully get to far and wide.
