Voodoo Highway – Broken Uncle’s Inn

[media-credit name=”voodoo highway” align=”alignright” width=”300″][/media-credit]Voodoo Highway are a new band from Italy.  Only formed in Spring 2010, they’ve already released an EP and now this their debut album, the oddly named “Broken Uncle’s Inn”.  Voodoo Highway play very 70’s feel hard rock in fact listening to the album you can imagine it as having been released back in the 70’s.

Comments on a few of the songs..

“Till it bleeds” starts off with a strongDeep Purple sound – “Woman from Tokyo” in particular, and in fact keeps the Deep Purple feel throughout the entire song (and the entire album really).  A good rocking song.

“The fire will burn away” is another strong song with some great guitar work

“Running around” features some organ work which is very reminiscent of classic Deep Purple material from the 1970’s.

“J.C. Superfuck” has to be one of the worst song titles I’ve seen for a long time, but the song itself isnt bad at all.

Let be honest here, Voodoo Highway dont sound like they’ve got many diverse influences – in fact it sounds like they only ever listen to classic era Deep Purple and this feeling really does come though in the album – every song on the album has a classic Deep Purple sound (which isn’t  a bad thing).

A great album for any fan of Deep Purple to check out.
