Waking Theo, pre-Bloodstock interview

Waking Theo is set to wreck the New Blood Stage on Friday 10th at this year’s Bloodstock.

We catch up with the band to find out more about them, the festival and what you lucky Bloodstock go-er’s will see!

Can you give the readers a quick introduction to the band?

We are Waking Theo from Harrogate in North Yorkshire. The band members are:

Craig Gordon – Vocals, Ben Wright – Lead Guitar,Chris Town – Rhythm Guitar,Chris Giles – Bass Guitar, Chris Vinter – Drums

Ben, Chris T and Chris V started the band in 2005. Over the years our sound has grown and developed a lot – being heavily influenced from the metal legends – Sabbath, Metallica, In Flames, Machine Head etc to more modern day music – Sylosis, Bleed From Within and hundreds of upcoming bands. We always wanted to play the music we love, to the people who want to hear it and to create our own sound based on influences from a massive variety of bands. Today we feel that we are starting to accomplish what we set out to achieve.

Have you ever been to Bloodstock before? If so when and what did you enjoy most about it?

We have been attending Bloodstock since 2007 – we really like the variety of bands that play, and the focus that the festival gives to new and upcoming groups. Bloodstock holds some of our best memories – getting drunk and listening to the heaviest music out there!

Why did you want to become part of the New Blood Stage line up?

Playing a festival such as Bloodstock has always been a dream of ours – to play our music in front of a large audience of potential fans is what we as a band feel could take us to the next level. The New Blood lineup is a great way for us to get our music out there to the right people.

What was your initial reaction when you found out you where playing on the New Blood Stage?

Absolute shock!! We have been through a lot for a band who are yet to play a major UK festival – I think I speak on behalf of the entire band when I say that we cannot wait to get out there and play now – Absolutely stoked!

What is your opinion of the Bloodstock lineup?

This is one of the strongest lineups we have ever seen at any metal festival in the UK. Playing with Bands such as Testament, Machine Head and The Black Dahlia Murder is a dream come true! There will not be a dull moment at all.

What are you looking forward to most at Bloodstock?

Aside from playing! Getting to watch and meet some of our biggest influences and, of course, Drinking a lot of Jager!!

What can the audience expect from you at the festival?

A show with masses of energy, brutal headbanging and awesome interaction. This is not going to be a show to miss…

Can you sum up Bloodstock in one sentence?

The best Metal Festival in the UK!

Any message you wish to pass on to the PM readers.

Thank you for all of your support. Continue to follow underground metal and support upcoming British bands.

Thank you for taking the time out to complete this interview, we are looking forward to seeing you at Bloodstock \m/
