It was my birthday on Sunday, so when I was putting together this week’s Wyrd Ways Rock Show, I was a little self-indulgent. That means you’ll be hearing a few of my favourite songs along with the best of the last few week’s new releases and previews. Since they’ve got a new album out (and I rather like them), this week’s Spotlight band are the mighty Hellyeah. You’ll also be hearing from Fatal Force, Metallica, Turisas, Manowar and Helstar, amongst many others.
As a bonus this week, I’m also making sure you know about last week’s. It’s an important one, since it marks the passing of one of the true legends of Rock and Metal: Jon Lord, founder of Deep Purple and the literal inventor of a whole style of keyboard playing and a pioneer of the use of the Hammond C3 and Leslie cabinet through amplification. A true innovator.
By the way, if you’re in a band (originals or covers) and you want to be on the show, get in touch with me via the website at http://www.wyrdwaysrs.com, Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/wyrdwaysrockshow) or ReverbNation (http://www.reverbnation.com/wyrdwaysrockshow) and send me some files (or a CD). If I like what I hear, I’ll play your stuff on the show. You can also listen at the new time of 10:00pm BST on PlanetMosh every Monday. If you’ve got a smartphone, you can also find The Wyrd Ways Rock Show on the Tune-In Radio app in the Podcast menu.
