NiteRain a promising Glam/Sleaze band from Oslo, Norway released their début album NiteRain last month. The idea for the band came from singer Sebastian (Baz) Tvedtnæs back in 2006 and he joined forces with a classmate. However the band really started out in 2010 when Frank and Morten joined with Adrian joining in 2012.

Baz kindly took the time to answer a few questions from PlanetMosh:

I believe that Baz got the idea for NiteRain in 2006. When did the other members come onboard?

That’s right! Frank and Morten joined in 2010 when we really started out, and Adrian came in 2012. Great guys!

Who is the creative force/who writes the lyrics and music?

The four of us creates the music together, usually through a jam at the rehearsals. Me, I write all the lyrics, but it looks like the other guys want to contribute to that too. Maybe because of future royalties! Haha.

Who are your heroes/biggest influences?

Mine is Mötley Crüe and L.A Guns. When I started singing people always said I sounded like a young Vince Neil, I could always sing the Crüe songs. L.A Guns is also a big inspiration. We toured with them a couple of times. Great guys, our big brothers!

What instruments/kit do you use?

I always use the wireless microphone, cause I tend to strangle myself with the cord. Total freedom with wireless, can also rock out with the mike stand. Used to sing through a Sennheiser, now I’m using the Shure SM58 wireless.

Which is the best gig you’ve played?

Wow, we had a blast on Iceland! Holy, those girls knows how to treat the dirty rocker boys! And the guys were awesome, very nice people. The place had a maximum for 250 persons, and it ended up with 500 crazy party people! Loved it.

If you could open for any other band who would it be?

Mötley Crüe and Guns N Roses! Would be sick!!

What’s on your rider?

Champagne, Tequila, coconut water, pizza, fruit, 9V Battery and Water, water and water! Sweating like crazy on stage. The water is crucial!

Why should people rush out and buy Crossfire?

If you’re like me and love Rock N Roll I hope you guys go check out CrossFire. This album is how I always meant rock n roll should sound like in these days! It’s a catchy album with a 16 page booklet inside with lyrics, pictures. Cool thing!

I’ve listened to Crossfire. The songs all seem to be about sex – why is that?

I guess that’s one of my favourite hobbies beside singing. Rock n Roll and girls goes hand in hand! As long as there is rock n roll out there, girls will follow. And, sex is good for you. Nothing wrong with that!

What can we expect from NiteRain in the near future?

We will play a lot of festivals in 2014, and in February we are going in studio to nail the second album. Another goal is to move to UK, looks and sounds like lots of good things in rock is happening there! I’m very excited for the future!

What instruments/kit do you recommend for people wanting to start a band?

I started playing bass because the guitar had too many strings! Ha Ha. I was fairly a good bass player a moment, but singing was my big dream, that’s what I really wanted.

Is there any message for your fans/would be fans?

I’m very grateful for our fans, without them we wouldn’t be where we are, I’m a fan too!! We are all fans! And I wish all the new people a warm welcome to the NiteRain camp! We will have tons of fun!!
