It is not often I can say this, but, I was there at the recording of this, Saxon’s ‘Sacrifice World Tour’ recorded live at The Ritz in Manchester.
British NWOHM Legends Saxon traditionally perform each year on St. George’s Day. By doing so they are paying homage to England’s patron, Saint George, who died on the 23rd of April 303.
Live albums are as only as good as the original recording, and on this level, it is first class. Mixed and mastered by Andy Sneap and produced by Biff Byford, they do not fail to bring you the exciting experience of a live Saxon set.
There are no real surprises on here, just a fan driven nearly two hour show of Saxons greatest hits.
However there is a very special rendition of ‘Broken Heroes’ that is dedicated to The British Armed Forces.
I liked the Christopher Cross cover “Ride Like The Wind” when it first came out as a single back in 1988 and I’m glad to see that it is still a firm Saxon live favorite.
There is not much more I can say about this, from a fans point of view, this is Saxons best live album ever. If you were there, then you would know that this show had so much energy, it is one of those rare occasions that you wish you could relive again, well now you can.
