Entrails – Resurrected from the Grave (Demo Collection)

In 2009, Swedish death metaller’s, Entrails, self-released two demos, “Reborn” and “Human Decay”. Now, in 2014 these demos have officially been re-pressed, combined into one album, and released under the title, “Resurrected from the Grave (Demo Collection)” via Metal Blade Records.

Despite being a complete death metal nut, there are very few death metal bands that really get me banging my head and thinking “fuck, this is a good album”.  However, the whopping 18 tracks featured on this album make this a f*cking solid album if I’ve ever heard one! The Swede’s know how it’s done.

 “Voices” and “Euthanasia” are a “must listen”. They contain some really catchy, yet unrelenting riffs, and belligerent vocals which, when delivered with some bad-ass drumming, will definitely get you tapping along with your head banging. “Triumph of the Sinners”, starts with an eerie, yet rather melodic intro, providing brief respite   from the assault of the previous 5 tracks that wants to leave you blue and bloody.  This track continues to provide really catchy and awesome riffs, yet still delivers the heavy death metal sound.

If you want to listen to seriously solid, crushing, old-school death metal in a true Swedish style then “Entrails”, “Human Decay” and end track “Casket Garden” are the ones to get you moving. Yet again, the vocals are harsh and the intense drumming and chunky guitar tone will keep your ears pounding until you’ve sat in a quiet room for a good 10 minutes.

Musically, the band doesn’t really provide us with anything ground–breaking. It’s a little like teleporting back to the true death metal from the 90’s along with some downright incredible riffs and beats. The album production is much clearer and allows the bands’ full potential to be heard. In addition, the low guttural vocals, killer ‘riffing’ and unstoppable, heavy-as-fuck drumming, mesh together to provide a groovy nature to this album. With Entrails currently in the midst of writing a new record, I’ll sure as hell be keeping my eyes open!
