Summary:

"...seven tracks of hard, fast, brutalizing and unapologetically destructive death metal meets grindcore at its finest"

Over the past 12 months or so, vocalist Simon Wright has proven himself to be a man who not only likes to keep busy, but also is capable of delivering music in diverse styles – and each time to great effect.  Around this time last year, he led Leeds technical groove/metalcore mob Canaya on their second EP, ‘Sealed Within The Walls’, before grabbing the mic for supergroup Krokodil’s debut ‘Nachash’ opus (described by PM’s own Elliot Leaver as an album possessing “enough meat to feed a family of four for a month” – http://planetmosh.com/krokodil-nachash/).

Evisorax - Goodbye To The Feast artworkNow, Wright moves ever onward and upward, and sideways, by adding (or, rather, re-adding) grindcore to his growing repertoire of metallic miens, with his return to vocal duties with Wigan’s own Evisorax – whom he first teamed up with in 2011 – for this, the band’s fourth release.

‘Goodbye To The Feast…’ is seven tracks of hard, fast, brutalizing and unapologetically destructive death metal meets grindcore at its finest, and produces a noise so big that it belies the fact that Evisorax are only a three-piece.  Built on pummeling bass beats, the songs grunt, growl and eviscerate with their unrestrained fury and bitter delivery:  Wright’s vocals spit and snarl, the venom of their delivery more effective than a bite from an Inland Taipan, while guitarist Daniel Lynch and drummer Simon Bishop pump the brutal aural assault with even more venom and violence, while also holding back when they need to and balancing the full-frontal attack with carefully defined melodies.

The undoubted highlight is the absolutely huge ‘So Many Fat People, During The Famine’:  lyrically an allegory on the ironic injustices of straitened times, it twists and turns throughout its comparatively epic length, curling around and upon itself, by turns brutally condemnatory and almost poignantly sympathetic, but ultimately challenging, both in its delivery and subject matter.
