SACRED STEEL To Release “Reborn In Steel” Deluxe Edition CD On Halloween


SACRED STEEL do not play Heavy Metal. They ARE Heavy Metal, or to be more exact: True Heavy Metal. Back in the middle of the ’90s, when Classic Metal was fighting for its survival and was losing, bunch of Heavy Metal maniacs from Germany got tired of new trends in Metal, and decided to start a band which would celebrate the legacy of legends such as AGENT STEEL, MERCYFUL FATE, SANCTUARY, OMEN, CIRITH UNGOL, early MANOWAR or HELSTAR. Not only they succeeded, and got signed to the legendary Metal Blade Records as the first German band ever, but they managed to ignite the fire that the scene needed, and they were in the front row of maniacs who were responsible for the revival of True Heavy Metal in Europe.

Skol Records is proud to present exclusive, expanded edition reissue of their already rare, classic, and out of print debut from 1997, “Reborn In Steel”. The CD album will hit the streets on Halloween, October 31, 2015, and will be limited to 1000 copies worldwide. Package will include 8 previously unreleased bonus tracks (no live recordings and no interviews), thick booklet with lyrics, lot of previously unseen photos, and killer liner notes written by Gerrit P. Mutz – band’s singer, also known from cooperation with bands such as BATTLEROAR and DAWN OF WINTER. The album has been remastered by Bart Gabriel (CRYSTAL VIPER, SATAN’S HOST, BURNING STARR), who also produced band’s most recent studio album, “The Bloodshed Summoning” (out on Cruz Del Sur in 2013).

I first went to a gig in 1981, Gillan at Leeds University. I've been a regular gig goer ever since. I haven't kept count of how many gigs I've been to over the intervening years, but it's a lot! My favourite bands are AC/DC then, in no particular order, Anti-Nowhere League, Slaughter and the Dogs, Towers of London and Dirt Box Disco. I tend to like Glam/Punk and rude offensive lyrics, not sure what that says about me but as Animal would say 'So What!' The question was recently put to me - did I write for any online publications? My reply - No, but I'd like to! Planetmosh was suggested and I found myself offering to review Aces High Festival. Easy peasy I thought! Well not quite, if a jobs worth doing it's worth doing well! I had sixteen bands to research. I found I actually enjoyed that and it kept me too busy to be making lunatic comments on Facebook! ;) Then I felt a bit inadequately qualified. I mean, who am I to comment on others, when my musical expertise extends to being able to play a mean Greensleeves on the recorder and a passable Annie's song on the flute! Haven't picked up either instrument for years! What I do have, however, is over 30 years of experience as a gig goer, so I can comment on what I like and what I don't! It's only my opinion and, if I don't like a band it doesn't mean they are bad, just not to my own liking. I admire anyone who has the guts to get up on that stage and have a go!
