Dakesis Announced as Special Guests on Thunderstone’s UK Tour

 

Thunderstone Dakesis Tour PosterFinnish power metallers Thunderstone are set to embark on their UK mini tour in May 2016 following the release of their upcoming album ‘Apocalypse Again’ which hit the public domain on 1st April 2016.

 

Thunderstone last graced the UK with a sold out performance at The Roadhouse in Birmingham back in 2010 with the previous singer Rick Altzi. Since then, their original vocalist Pasi Rantanen has rejoined the ranks and this will be his first show in UK since 2003.

 

The mini tour will see them performing at three dates;

 

Thursday 26th May 2016 at The Black Heart in Camden, London.

Friday 27th May 2016 at The Asylum 2 in Birmingham.

Saturday 28th May 2016 at The Corporation in Sheffield.

 

These dates are deliberately in some of the best notoriously intimate venues which will give the shows a fantastic atmosphere in order to showcase their new album and give fans a really special experience.

 

Nino Laurenne of Thunderstone says;

“We are absolutely thrilled to have this chance to play in UK again. After the many great times we’ve had in our previous visits, I’m convinced we will have a great party and we invite you all to join us!“.

Thunderstone have roped in fellow Prog-Power metallers Dakesis to support them across all three dates.

Dakesis’ bass player, Amie Chatterley says;

“It’s been a long time since we shared the stage with our good friends Thunderstone in the UK, after such a great time with them for their album tour in Finland a few weeks back, we can’t wait to relive this experience and of course sing along to all the new tracks off their new album“.

I first went to a gig in 1981, Gillan at Leeds University. I've been a regular gig goer ever since. I haven't kept count of how many gigs I've been to over the intervening years, but it's a lot! My favourite bands are AC/DC then, in no particular order, Anti-Nowhere League, Slaughter and the Dogs, Towers of London and Dirt Box Disco. I tend to like Glam/Punk and rude offensive lyrics, not sure what that says about me but as Animal would say 'So What!' The question was recently put to me - did I write for any online publications? My reply - No, but I'd like to! Planetmosh was suggested and I found myself offering to review Aces High Festival. Easy peasy I thought! Well not quite, if a jobs worth doing it's worth doing well! I had sixteen bands to research. I found I actually enjoyed that and it kept me too busy to be making lunatic comments on Facebook! ;) Then I felt a bit inadequately qualified. I mean, who am I to comment on others, when my musical expertise extends to being able to play a mean Greensleeves on the recorder and a passable Annie's song on the flute! Haven't picked up either instrument for years! What I do have, however, is over 30 years of experience as a gig goer, so I can comment on what I like and what I don't! It's only my opinion and, if I don't like a band it doesn't mean they are bad, just not to my own liking. I admire anyone who has the guts to get up on that stage and have a go!
