Has it really been nine years since I last saw self proclaimed “Heraldic, Templar Metal, Castle Dwelling, Cacophoni” band Jaldaboath lay waste to a packed out Sophie Lancaster Stage at Bloodstock Open Air Festival in 2014?
Maybe they have spent too long conquering new lands but have now returned to the sedateness of Brighton to count their treasure! So it’s time to rejoice with their single ‘Alehorn Battalions’, a song of pantomime “He’s behind you” like hilarity. Vocals delivered are jolly jousting joviality of the highest order. Hilarious, but also deadly serious to keep the songs call to arms joie de vivre alive and well towards pit opening mid paced thrash metal.
Singing along to a lengthy “Woah oh waoh” midsection is mandatory or you’ll be hung, drawn, quartered and just for good measure, slaughtered by lead vocalist James Fogarty. HAIL.
