Not so subtly named Aussie crust death noiseniks give us a suitably uncompromising full-length debut
With a name like Küntsquad, you pretty much know from the name and album artwork, that this is not going to be a collection of love songs. What is laid out before us akin to a freshly opened corpse, are 14 short sharp shocks of raw, brutal, yet stupidly catchy music. With only 2 songs hitting over the 3 minute mark, this is 31 minutes that goes very quickly, and makes you want to replay the whole thing again.
Australia is no stranger to uncompromising bands, and Küntsquad don’t disappoint. Vocalist and guitarist Paula Damnzal‘s vocals are a cross between Sabina Claessen (Holy Moses) and Barney Greenaway (Napalm Death), which suit the songs perfectly.
Production is raw and organic, yet all instruments and vocals are clear, which makes it all the more hard hitting. Without going into a blow by blow account, all the tracks follow much the same structure, yet keep their own identity. However all are the aural equivalent of getting kicked up the arse by a very large kangaroo…
All in all this is a decent debut, and should keep those of you who enjoy this kind of punked up filth happy over repeated listenings.!
