While DIE EGO draw influences from metal and hard rock icons such as Metallica, Pantera, Alice in Chains, and Slipknot, the band have a distinctive edge and styling which partially stems from their roots, given that Gabe Scapigliati (Vocals and Bass) is originally from Turin in Italy and Diego Fardel (Lead Guitar) hails from Buenos Aires in Argentina. Since their inception in 2015, the core nucleus of the band has always been Diego and Gabe with selected drummers collaborating for recorded and live work. Harnessing their diversity and deft ability, DIE EGO soon began to make their mark on the London scene, brought about by animated live shows and a strong response to their first demo, Song For The Insanity, which dropped in 2018. As momentum grew, so did many noteworthy appearances at a slew of popular venues and events, such as O2 Islington and Camden Rocks Festival. The band continued their ascension with the release of their debut album, Culto, which landed in 2020. Despite the recent Covid pandemic, the energetic metallers still managed to successfully tour throughout England and Europe. Last year, the Brit riff slayers also released their sophomore album, 74 Days Staring At The Void, which was warmly welcomed by the media and tastemakers alike. The band toured the album relentlessly playing shows throughout the UK and into Europe.
DIE EGO are dedicated to pushing the boundaries and their new single, Anywhere We Are Going, deeply underlines this. This acoustic-based track is a complete break from their norm, ideally showcasing the band’s guile, strong musicianship, and undeniable ability to produce a song that is massively alluring and intensively inviting. Diego remarks: “We are currently without a full-time drummer, so we took this time to explore a different side of the band. With our previous albums we introduced a few acoustic guitars but never wrote an entire acoustic song with clean vocals. This was a new challenge for us and moved us out of our comfort zone”. Diego goes to comment: “We cut the track with our long-time friend and esteemed producer, Alessio Garavello, at Rogue Studios in London. The recording session was a unique experience and hearing it coming together felt magical. We feel we’ve achieved something special and are so happy with it.”
With plans afoot for their third album, as well as further live performances, DIE EGO will continue to climb and climb……
