Lock up your daughters! Lock up anything the Takeaway Thieves might purloin off you as the interminable wait is finally over, as they release their sophomore album Diamond Point on October 11th, 2024, via Coffee ‘N’ Mint Records. The band were formed in 2018, Blackpool, Lancashire and are with RPM Management.
These ten tantalizing songs have freed themselves from their shackles to get rid of their frustration, point proved by album opener, ‘Kickin’ My Heart Around’. It’s a riff after riff, after motherfu**ing riff rager, showing off their AC/DC hearts worn on sleeves for some seriously amp shattering bombast as ferocious choruses fight for the spotlight, but the gold medal goes to the rasp of lead vocalist Peter McLoughlin.
They get heavier with the buzzsaw riffing of ‘I’ll Be Waiting For You’, that hardly pauses for breath as it’s fired out with auctioneer speed ferocity.
‘Find My Way Home’ is a delightful ballad that in an ideal World would get the recognition the likes of Crue, KISS, Bon Jovi churn out. It’s an almost perfect song destined for arenas if their’s any justice.
‘Crazy Horse’, not Neil Young’s, but a majestic stallion that leaves the rest of the competition behind in its wake. It’s a bass heavy shitkicker, gathering momentum as the riffs get faster nearing the finish line.
‘What Do You Want?’……What do we want? We don’t want this anthem to end as these four barroom boogie tinged minutes pound without mercy to make for an early album highlight for me, pausing for breath in a sugar sweet midsection and high and mighty “Whoa Oh Oh’s”.
Here’s another for the headbangers, as ‘Sundance’ will make them lose their minds as well as their neck muscles to as it careers and Kerrangs with glee for another 24 carat blockbuster!
‘Gypsy’ is a good old fashioned, no frills tubthumper. The guitars riff with aplomb, resonating through my headphones with some serious wrecking ball fury power, over a put up or shut up lead vocal.
‘True Story’ shoots the breeze for this sugar sweet, almost pop punk pogo inducing, feelgood vibes that are mandatory to be blasted out with your car windows right down. (Yeah, I know it’s October!).
Back to the brutality as ‘Gotta Get Back’ is all Godzilla stomped dynamics that run wild for a rollercoaster ride of gravity defying speeds, point proven by another mind, and speaker blowing performance.
What a way to close a compelling album with it’s heaviest track, ‘Suicide 66’. Its claustrophobic nuances meander along with a don’t stand too close to the edge bravery, just in case these industrial metal, skin flaying riffs, leave what’s left of you for the vultures……or even the seagulls!.
