Many countries jealously guard their culture and heritage – but when a band such as Leaves’ Eyes openly defy national boundaries, not only in terms of their membership but also in their lyrical inspiration, cultural identity becomes secondary to the new cultural infusion of symphonic heavy metal which draws its influences from both Nordic and Celtic traditions and themes.
Despite being made up of German and Norwegian musicians, the band actually have their roots on the island of Ireland – so where better for Planet Mosh to sit down with vocalist Liv Kristine during their ongoing supporting trek with Greek power metallers Firewind, to mull over the life-changing experience the band has been for the singer, her solo career and how LE’s next album not only will be their heaviest yet but will also see Liv adding yet another language to her multi-linguistic dictionary?
