Hailing from the Nottingham/Derby area, young four piece acolourfall describe themselves as “an alternative/grunge-metal band” and assert their musical mission is to “bridge the gap between bands like Sevendust, Neurosis, Downset, Fear Factory, Deftones and a perfect circle”.
This debut EP certainly displays most of those influences, and quite a few more, and is filled with youthful enthusiasm. There is plenty of potential in their material – especially in the nu-metal edged ‘Me Now’ and the aggressive ‘Monster’ – and they play with conviction and passion.
Each of the three songs is well written and constructed, and the performances are impressive enough (especially the bass and vocals), although the production is a little ropey in places: this is very much an encapsulation of a band in the early stages of development, but one filled with potential and an outfit worth keeping a wary one eye open for…
