A Silent Film – New EP “New Year” Out On 27th April

A Silent Film announce the release of their new EP “New Year” on April 21st. “New Year” is the follow-up to 2012’s Sand & Snow, and a primer for a new full-length album this fall. The band recorded New Year in a rustic studio on a pecan farm just outside El Paso, Texas, co-producing with Matt Wilcox (Lovlier Other). The EP contains four new songs and is now available for pre-order at all usual outlets, including an instant download of the new single “Tomorrow.”

The A Silent Film story is an unusual one. The Oxford based duo have found much success in the USA. The band has now sold over 40,000 albums and 300,000 single/downloads in the USA. They have built up a huge, loyal fanbase through their powerful live shows. The band have had over 5.5 million spotify plays, 2.5 million youtube views and 500,000 soundcloud plays. The band has toured with the likes of OneRepublic, The Temper Trap and American Authors. The year Biffy Clyro headlined Reading/Leeds festival, they also supported A Silent Film in the USA.

Lead single, “Tomorrow”, marries the anthemic power of Joshua Tree-era U2 with driving synths, setting up a soaring chorus that is destined to become an unforgettable moment in their live set. “Paralysed” explores the powerlessness and self-destructiveness of infatuation – I’m paralysed / by the touch of your hand / before you walk away please show me how / to break out of this jail cell – set to a tense, high-energy soundtrack that combines the formal experimentation of Muse with the emotional lyrical directness of Imagine Dragons. The EP’s bombast is balanced by the soaring, dramatic ballads “Strong Enough” and “Message in the Sand”, both of which deal with finding emotional strength and support through a loved one: whenever I fall/you lift me up/show me how to be strong enough.

The band will accompany the release of New Year with a non-traditional USA tour in April entitled “Secret Rooms.” The band will offer intimate performances in non-traditional spaces that will not be revealed to fans until just before the show. The band’s goal is to provide an unforgettable experience for their most avid fans. The audience will not only experience a concert, but also participate in an interactive evening with the band and leave with new music, memorabilia, and many surprises. It’s a measure of the bands standing in the USA that despite these shows having a $100 plus ticket price the tour has completely sold out.
