Agni Kai – Pre Fest Interview Wacken 2014

Agni Kai are from Macedonia and are representing Former Yugoslav Republic at this year’s Wacken Metal Battle. They play at Wacken along with all the other Metal Battle winners from all over the world to compete for the Over All Metal Battle Champion!

Agni KaiCan you give the readers a quick introduction to the band.

Agnikai is a band formed in late 2011, by Bojan Nikolovski ( guitars ) and Vasil Filipovski( drums ) , who had the same thing in mind and that is composing and creating mind blowing sound within metal music. We lay the foundation of music, philosophy and meaning of the songs in sociocentric significance.

During 2012, despite the already made song-material they encounter difficulties in finding the right bass player, but hope and perseverance gave them energy to find quiet tantrum throwing Vladimir Ordevski, who simply surprised with his ideas and imagination of bass lines.Plans had been delayed and resulted in the stagnation of several months . In this period with several attempts , in the band joined Vlado Bojkovski ( guitars ) , tireless addicted DJENT rhythm player, who elevated the band to a whole new level, as in the sound as in the creativity.

The latest to join the band was Pece Kleckaroski the man with harp and chopper engine embedded in his vocal cords and made the band sound simply beastly. Yet their love and passion , that desire for creativity and need for movement and action merge again and continued to act as fire and ice together embracing , incomprehensible and yet in conflict with one heart one mind , one Agni Kai !

How would you describe your sound.

We find it quite difficult to define our sound, thus we made it without limits. We were influenced by thrash metal, core, progressive, djent and even death metal. We find our sound as a modern powerful mixture that transfers pure energy into sound.

How would you describe the metal music scene in your country. What has changed over the last few years?

We always had good musicians in our country BUT this kind of music is not acceptable as it is widely. Young bands work very hard in creating a signature sound but still they have no support and they can’t present themselves properly. As the years pass more and more band come up with original ideas but they can’t reach the final product.

Why did you enter the WOA Metal Battle Competition.

We saw the Metal Battle as a chance to present ourselves and the hard work that we did over the years and a great chance to be heard widely, and of course the support and spending a great time with other bands and fans are important.

What was your initial reaction when you found out that you have won & you were playing at Wacken.

We were surprised greatly because there was a tight competition between many bands ready to win in any way possible. We are honoured to perform on this great festival, because we wanted to visit the festival as guest and now we’re on the stage performing in front of true metal fans.

What was the best and worst part of the competition for you.

The best part is that we had a really great time with many people, and of course winning is a special moment, and the worst part is that we had difficulties finding proper resources and the long road trip that we had to endure.

Would you recommend the competition to other bands. Any hints/tips for bands that are looking to enter?

We strongly recommend this competition to every bend with a vision for themselves, our tip is: work very hard and be as much creative as you can, and stay focused to the very end.

What can the audience expect from you at the festival.

They will feel the pure energy of our music, they will experience a great performance and spend a great time with us.

Wacken 2014 Metal BattleWhat has been the bands biggest achievement so far?

For a short period we achieved a few victories as to be a representative of our country (Macedonia), representing the Former Yugoslav Republic (6 countries) and to be a part of the renounced international Wacken festival.

Have you ever been to Wacken before? If so when and what did you enjoy most about it.

We’ve never been to Wacken before, but we always wanted to go there since we stepped into the metal world.

What is your opinion of the Wacken line-up?

The line-up is tremendous, there are a lot of different styles and artists and we think that everyone can find their favourite sound on this festival.

Can you sum up Wacken in one sentence?

It’s a place where everyone came with only one purpose: to share the positive energy and passion for metal.

Any message you wish to pass on to the PM readers.

Support metal as much as you can without prejudice.
