Having launched phase two of their crowd-funding via Kickstarter on Monday 4th March 2013, Alt Fest organisers are proud to announce that the £30,000 initial target was smashed within six days and with 22 days still left on the official campaign. In accordance with Kickstarter’s terms and conditions, pledgers do not have the money taken from them until the total has been reached but projects can continue to raise money until the completed term of the campaign even after reaching the target amount. The Alt Fest team hopes to reach at least £50,000 before completing phase two. Announced exclusively to backers last week, Alt Fest has added a further six bands to the line-up as a teaser of what’s to come. Breed 77, Collapse, Seven Deadly, Zeromancer, Skeletal Family and KMFDM have all been announced alongside the 30+ bands already revealed and cementing Alt Fest’s position as the most exciting new festival in the calendar. Alt Fest takes place from 15-17 August 2014 at the beautiful Boughton Hall in Kettering, Northamptonshire and will be the UK’s first truly major outdoor festival celebrating alternative culture, art, music and lifestyles.
With an album on the horizon, Gibraltan metallers Breed 77 are set for a big year in 2013. After a relatively quiet two years, fans wait with baited breath for the release of ‘The Evil Inside’, the sixth studio album from the Kerrang! and Metal Hammer award-winners and their appearance at Alt Fest will be a welcome return to the live arena in 2014.
Loosely translated as “no pity for the majority”, KMFDM is an industrial band led by German multi-instrumentalist Sascha Konietzko, who founded the group in 1984 as a performance art project. KMFDM has released seventeen studio albums and two-dozen singles, with sales of more than two million records worldwide. Critics consider KMFDM to be one of the first bands to bring industrial music to mainstream audiences, though Konietzko refers to the band’s music as “The Ultra-Heavy Beat”.
“Everyone at Alt-Fest HQ is overjoyed by the wonderful support we have received from ‘our’ people and our Kickstarter campaign. Smashing the target so quickly has reinforced not only that festivals should and need to be led by the crowd, by the fans and the very people that attend but also that if you ask for support, share information, listen and involve the people you get much more back. Alt Fest has proved without any doubt that the fans want a better way. It is THE future and the way forward for festivals not only in the UK but worldwide. The more we raise now will allow us to book more acts that the fans want to see and bigger acts for the festival’s main stage. We are exceptionally excited to see just how much we can raise over the coming weeks with the support of the fans and then in turn to solicit their views and input on what headline acts they want us to book for them” commented Alt Fest co-founder Dom Void.
