ANVIL – New video for ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE & October UK Tour announced

***CANADIAN HEAVY METAL ICONS’ ANNOUNCE NEW VIDEO FOR ‘ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE’ & OCTOBER HEADLINE UK TOUR***

Seminal Canadian heavy metal legends Anvil have unveiled a new video for ‘Zombie Apocalypse’, taken from their highly acclaimed new studio album ‘Anvil Is Anvil’, and confirmed a major European tour for October and November.

Vocalist / guitarist Lips states that “‘Zombie Apocalypse’ is my personal favorite from the new CD…I love the feel and tempo which allows for melody and sheer power. I’m still finding it funny when I was asked “Zombie A coffee Lips?”. Drummer Rob Reiner adds; “A blood Rock / Sabbath inspiration of sorts, combined with slamming doom feel….the track is hypnotic in nature, displaying a shredding of a guitar solo and has been fun to perform live!!! One of the many top tracks from ‘Anvil Is Anvil’!” The clip can be viewed below.

Anvil kick off their extensive ‘Anvil Is Anvil’ European tour with 8 headline shows in the UK in October, before touring Belgium, Holland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, France and Italy. Dates are:-

 20th October – LONDON, O2 Academy 2, Islington

21st October – MANCHESTER, Rebellion

22nd October – DONCASTER, Diamond

23rd October – CARDIFF, The Globe

25th October – GLOUCESTER, Guildhall

26th October – EDINBURGH, La Belle Angele

‘Anvil is Anvil’, the band’s sixteenth studio album, an unambiguous, uncompromising, unmistakably Anvil long player, infused throughout with a fresh, sparkling, self-confident vitality, reflects both the band’s philosophy of life and new-found drive. “We’re sometimes criticised for never changing,” Lips explains, continuing “But why should we change something we’re renowned for? Isn’t it much more important to stay faithful to yourself? To do what you do best? The idea behind our latest album is: we are what we are, and that’s how it’s going to stay!”

‘Anvil Is Anvil’ was awarded 9/10 in Powerplay Magazine’s March 2016 issue by Andrew Hawnt, who raved “This is Anvil firing on all cylinders and adding more cylinders for good measure.  Opening with the tongue in cheek pirate anthem ‘Daggers And Rum’, the album offers a damn fine run of the classic Anvil sound, albeit with small additions here and there which add a lot of flavour.  ‘Up, Down and Sideways’, ‘Gun Control’ and ‘Die For A Lie’ are very much in the classic Anvil mould, but then the slower ‘Zombie Apocalypse’ shows the influence that new bassist Chris Robertson has had, and it’s a fun, slow grinder with a chorus that’ll go down a treat live.”

Metal Hammer’s Malcolm Dome awarded the album 7/10 in the March 2016 issue, stating that “Whatever the prevailing wind, Anvil have always been unyielding. You know what to expect from any of their albums, and anything on ‘Anvil Is Anvil’ could be swapped for tracks from their classic early 80s period without disturbing the flow.  And that’s why this is such a metal testament….. They race into every track with such zest and command that you’re soon totally immersed.  From the humour of the pirate metal romp ‘Daggers and Rum’ through the socially aware ‘Gun Control’, the storming ‘It’s Your Move’ (with a deliberate bow to ‘Ace of Spades’) and the martial ‘Forgive Don’t Forget’, the record is stuffed with fire, ire and what can only be described as classic Anvil moments…  A cracking ride

Kerrang!’s Nick Ruskell rated the album KKK, musing “It is a very good thing that Canadian metallers Anvil were finally able to have a decent career in the wake of 2008’s The Story Of Anvil documentary. Not least because the quality of their output has gone up since. Such is the case with ‘Anvil Is Anvil’… ‘Daggers And Rum’ is a rollocking tribute to pirates, while ‘Zombie Apocalypse’ is a morbid stomper to party to. So yes, 16 albums in Anvil are still very much Anvil. And God bless ‘em for it.”
