We caught up with Dan Robinson who fronts Prog metal project, AURA DECAY. Check out Aura Decay’s stunning new single, Facing The Obscure, out now – https://youtu.be/Q83aLI4H1Qg .
What is the line-up?
A: I’m currently a one-man machine, managing vocals, guitars, bass and drum programming.
How and when did the project start?
A: I established the project in June 2020 while living in the Durham area, using songs previously recorded at the University of Huddersfield.
When and how did the project really start gelling and solidifying?
A: The project started to come to life this year, lockdown really brought out my creative spirit!
Who are your musical influences?
A: Musical influences range from Periphery, Meshuggah, Tesseract, Humanity’s Last Breath. Anything with mad grooves!
Where did the name of the project come from?
A: The name Aural Decay was inspired by the project’s sound, dark and heavy. I also had a perforated ear drum around the time of beginning to work on the project, so it was quite fitting…
In your opinion, how is this project different from all the other bands out there?
A: The project combines a wide array of influence from various progressive metal/metalcore artists to create a unique and powerful sound that is both atmospheric and frenetic!
If a deaf person were to ask you to describe the sound of your music, how would you describe it?
A: Terrifying. I think they’d be better off deaf!
Where can we find your social media sites?
A: The social media sites can be found by entering ‘Aural Decay’ into Facebook and Instagram. My music can be found on most streaming services! Links below:
